For those who may have missed it, Rev. George Rekers, co-founder of the Family Research Council and an anti-gay activist, was outed recently for hiring a male prostitute to accompany him on a 10-day vacation. The kicker is that he claims that he had no idea that the person he hired was a male prostitute until halfway through his vacation. It’s seems like an innocent mistake to me. If I hired a male escort from RentBoy.com, there’s no way that I would have known that I was hiring a male prostitute. You have to love the hypocrisy from the far-right!

The story goes something like this: a guy walks into a bar and loses a prototype of Apple’s newest 4G iPhone, slated for release in June, and Gizmodo pays $5K for the device and publishes a huge story about it. What follows next is a police raid of Gizmodo editor Jason Chen’s house, which, on the surface, appears to have violated journalistic shield laws in California. Although, there are some questions on whether these laws extend to journalists who purchase stolen or missing property. And, it also raises a serious question for bloggers in general. Are bloggers considered journalists, under the law, and thus protected by shield laws?

Stewart recently weighed in on the story, ripping Apple over the debacle. My favorite quote from him was when he said, “If you want to break down someone’s door, why don’t you start with AT&T, for G-d sakes? They make your amazing phone unusable as a phone!” I think he may be on to something here (snark)…

It looks like Arizona has actually managed to out-crazy Virginia Republicans for a change (snark). Well there is always next week…

Richard Lorey (a.k.a. “An Angry American”) spoke at an April 10^th Tea Party Rally in Stafford, VA. This pretty much sums up the Tea Party movement to me. If I were he, I’d take my tea as decaf for now on.

Where was Richard when Bush was running up deficits and spending money like a drunken sailor? We could have used a few “Angry Americans” back then. All I can say is wow!

On the subject of “Union Victory Appreciation Month” Stewart explains that “it would be hypocritical of me to complain about Virginia’s confederate holiday when our part of the country, the north, is marking Union Victory or United States Victory Appreciation Month celebrating our rich heritage of kicking the Confederacies ass.”

Hugh Mungis, Starbucks VP of Volume issued the following statement:

Whether customers are looking for a large or small size, the Plenta and the Micra satisfy all U.S. and Canada customers’ needs for more and less coffee. Our size selection is now plentiful.

Republicans have responded by saying “Hell No, You Can’t” and blasting this as a direct result of the recently signed health care reform (HCR) legislation.

House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) also blasted the new Plenta size as an “attempt by Democrats to kill Grandma and Grandpa.” He also noted that this new size would cause health care costs to “skyrocket.”

Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Michael Steele was most concerned about the Micra size. He worries that children will become “hooked” on Starbucks’ caffeinated beverages and that the HCR provision that allowed for this was nothing more than a “giveaway” to Democrats liberal friends (e.g. Starbucks). He argued that with all of the problems we are facing, there is certainly a “better way to spend money.”

Rep. Rob  Wittman (R-Montross) of Virginia’s First Congressional District  was most concerned on the environmental impact of the Plenta-sized cup. Having attained no significant legislative accomplishments, since being elected in 2007, and having the notoriety of being ranked as of one of the 10 least effective members of Congress, Wittman has decided to change his image and take a stand on this “travesty” by Democrats.

He will introduce a bill tomorrow that will mandate that the Plenta-sized cup be recycled and reused for other purposes. He suggests that the Plenta-sized cup could be used as a popcorn receptacle, rain hat, perennial planter, lampshade, yoga block, milk dish for kittens, soft boiled egg cup or a paper clip holder.

Tea Party folks are also outraged that these new sizes will only be available for coffee-based beverages and not tea. They argue that this is a “huge” waste of taxpayer funds, especially when they receive no direct benefit from the legislation. They have threatened to board any Starbucks truck carrying these new sizes and “destroy the cups.”

Republicans plan to campaign heavily on this issue in the fall and believe that it will resonate with voters, allowing them to win back control of Congress.

For those struggling to adjust to Daylight Savings Time (DST), like I’m apparently, it is time to fight back against the time totalitarians!

According to a video confessional from LMFAO’s Sky Blu, it all started when he leaned his seat back while the plane was still on the tarmac … and Romney, who was sitting behind him, started yelling at him to put his seat back up.

Sky Blu claims Romney then reached forward and grabbed his shoulder … and in turn, he hit the Presidential wannabeen’s forehead. Shortly after, authorities boarded the plane and escorted Sky Blu off the flight … and the other member of LMFAO got it all on tape.

In a recent visit with MTV, Sky Blue and fellow bandmate Redfoo (who played the part of Romney) decided to reenact the events (an entertaining, but not a factual depiction of the event itself). Enjoy!
